How Much Internet Speed Do You Need for IPTV and 4K?

By the KemoTV support team · August 14, 2026 · 4 min read

The short answer: about 10 Mbps per HD screen and 25 Mbps per 4K screen, measured at the busiest time of the evening.

Speed per stream

QualityRecommended speedData per hour
SD5 Mbps~0.7 GB
HD (720p)8 Mbps~1.5 GB
FHD (1080p)12 Mbps~3 GB
4K25 Mbps~7 GB

Several TVs at once

Add the streams together and leave 30% headroom. Two FHD TVs and a 4K TV need roughly 12 + 12 + 25 = 49 Mbps, so a 75 Mbps plan is comfortable. Choose the matching device count on our pricing page.

Speed isn't the whole story

  • Wi-Fi quality matters as much as your plan — use 5 GHz or Ethernet
  • Test at 8–10 pm when your neighbourhood is busiest
  • Data caps: 4K can use 200 GB+ a month for a keen sports fan
