The short answer: about 10 Mbps per HD screen and 25 Mbps per 4K screen, measured at the busiest time of the evening.
Speed per stream
| Quality | Recommended speed | Data per hour |
|---|---|---|
| SD | 5 Mbps | ~0.7 GB |
| HD (720p) | 8 Mbps | ~1.5 GB |
| FHD (1080p) | 12 Mbps | ~3 GB |
| 4K | 25 Mbps | ~7 GB |
Several TVs at once
Add the streams together and leave 30% headroom. Two FHD TVs and a 4K TV need roughly 12 + 12 + 25 = 49 Mbps, so a 75 Mbps plan is comfortable. Choose the matching device count on our pricing page.
Speed isn't the whole story
- Wi-Fi quality matters as much as your plan — use 5 GHz or Ethernet
- Test at 8–10 pm when your neighbourhood is busiest
- Data caps: 4K can use 200 GB+ a month for a keen sports fan
