M3U Link vs Xtream Codes Login: What's the Difference?

By the KemoTV support team · August 1, 2026 · 4 min read

When your KemoTV line is activated you receive two ways to sign in: an M3U link and an Xtream Codes login (username, password, server URL). They unlock the same channels.

M3U link

An M3U is a single web address that returns a playlist — a list of channels and where to play them. Almost every player accepts one, which makes it the universal option.

  • Works in SS IPTV, VLC and nearly every player
  • One long link to paste
  • TV guide needs a separate EPG link in some apps

Xtream Codes login

Xtream Codes uses three fields instead of one link. The player talks to the server directly, so it can load the guide, the movie library and series seasons automatically.

  • Faster loading on large line-ups
  • Guide, movies and series appear automatically
  • Supported by TiviMate, Smarters, IPTVX, XCIPTV and more

Which should I use?

Use Xtream Codes whenever the player offers it. Use the M3U link for SS IPTV, VLC, or any app that only accepts playlists. See our setup guides for each device.
